Our Homemade members volunteer to teach young kids (8-14) how to cook healthy meals while keeping them busy during the pandemic. Hearts Over Hands is an organization that provides engaging sessions to children with "parents on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic (doctors, medics, grocery store workers, etc.), parents dealing with illness, and single parents."
The UC Davis Sports Medicine Club hosts a number of speakers a year to properly inform students in athletics how to better take care of their bodies. Homemade volunteers provide Zoom Nutrition Workshops to attendees of the Sports Medicine Club promoting healthy eating and living, along with information on proper meal prepping. We tie together nutrition, physical therapy, exercise and mental health all in one workshop serving the UC Davis athletics community.
"Grace Garden is a sustainable garden growing vegetables, fruits and flowers." Grace Garden has a goal to provide fresh produce to help feed the hungry and to develop relationships with gardeners, students, volunteers – everyone! Our Homemade members volunteer their time on weekends to help harvest and plant seeds for further fresh fruit and vegetable growth for families in need.
The Student Advisory Council from San Francisco Unified School District is a youth-led organization that represents the interests of students to administrative and policy-making bodies of SFUSD. Homemade at UC Davis provides beneficial Zoom Nutrition Workshops to the SFUSD educational district.
"Community Harvest of Davis (formerly Village Harvest Davis) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, run entirely by volunteers, that harvests fruit from residential trees and donates it to agencies that feed people in need." Members of Homemade at UCD have volunteered their time to harvest over 500 pounds of fruit that was donated to 14-16 need-based orgs and individuals around Davis!
