Written by: Elyse Ehlert Post by: Yue Jin Have an old loaf of bread that you're not quite sure what to do with? Or have a fridge full of random ingredients but no idea what to make? Everything But The Kitchen Sink Bread Pudding is for you! My family loves bread pudding and over the years my mom has made an art out of making it in a pinch, with all sorts of ingredients! You can get as creative as you like, or stick to the basics, whatever you want! You can also swap out certain ingredients to make it sweeter, or even healthier. Ingredients: - at least a half a loaf of bread, or enough to fill a small pan with (can be multiple types as well but sourdough and French bread work best - 2 eggs - 2 cup milk - 2 tbsp butter - 1/3 cup sugar or agave/honey - vanilla (to taste) - cinnamon (to taste) - fruit (canned pears/peaches, raspberries, blueberries, craisins, raisins, cherries, banana, anything you can find/feel like) - nuts (walnut, peanuts, almonds) - anything else you can think of that would taste good! - Pam cooking spray Prep: 1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees 2) Spray a baking pan/dish with Pam or butter it 3) Slice bread into cubes/chunks, (it doesn't have to be pretty!), and place in the pan 4) Melt butter 5) Mix eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar/agave in a separate bowl and then pour over bread in pan, making sure to coat all the bread. Let soak for a few minutes. 6) Add your fruits and nuts (and anything else!) to the dish and mix up with a spoon or (wash them first!) your hands 7) Put into oven for 45 minutes to an hour 8) Let cool for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy! You can always add ice cream or syrups as well! The average cost of this meal is relatively cheap, especially when you factor in how many of these ingredients can be used with other meals such as the loaf of bread or butter. A loaf of French bread is usually $2 at Safeway, as are canned peaches.
